After my recent post about how much I will save by giving up my car and going to work on my brand new electric scooter, somebody asked me what's the equivalent miles per gallon. Somebody much cleverer than I am has worked this out to be 1,000 miles per gallon. Although, of course, it's greener than using fossil-based fuels so there is that added benefit as well. Ever since I stopped using my car and bought an electric scooter for commuting I promised to work out how much money I'm saving. I live just outside London, near a train station. So I'll also include that for comparison. I've factored in costs like insurance and road tax and assumed I go into the office 48 weeks a year. So here it is:
